Meet the Founder

My name is Deborah Tabi, and I’m a Compliance professional working in CCLA, an investment management firm in Central London. To give you a backstory, I am from a demographic considered deprived and grew up in a rough and sometimes dangerous neighbourhood in South East London, where stabbing, burglaries and drug-dealing were the norm. I was also state school educated. However, during my time in school, I began to realise that my education could be used as a powerful tool to help me break free from my background and into the future I wanted for myself. What did I need? A mindset shift. I realised that, regardless of what I could see around me, there was still hope and many opportunities available to me.

From the ages of 16-18, I tutored over 60 3-16-year-olds in Brixton. This was named as the most deprived town centre in the Lambeth State of Borough report in 2016. During my time here, I experienced firsthand the varying limiting beliefs these young people and children had about their potential and their future. During my time in this role, the seed of wanting to see the best possible outcomes for these talented young individuals was sown, and I believe that through the Young Minds Campaign, many young people will be encouraged to come into agreement with their potential and begin taking practical steps to create a better tomorrow.’
